In the gray room an old slide projector plays blurred photographs that gradually form a channel in time. Deeper in, a tube chandelier modelled on Kyiv metro stations emits a ruddy glow that flickers like breathing — current passing through neon gas, expanded into warm sound. Neon comes from the sizzling past of cosmic nucleosynthesis; since 1898, from neon lights to bubble chambers to lithography machines, it has quietly participated in human history.
